HUMAN HABITAT REGULATION
Environments that reduce overload, support daily life, and promote greater balance.

Welcome!
For those arriving here for the first time, here are a few notes about my background.
I am an architect, osteopath, and hold a Master’s degree in Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience. Throughout my journey, I have brought together different ways of understanding the body, behavior, and space — and how they continuously influence one another. But it was my own experience that made this connection impossible to ignore.
I have a high sensitivity to my environment, and I have felt — very concretely — how space can either support or disrupt daily functioning: rest, focus, clarity, and even the way we relate to others.
I come from a family in the north of Portugal, with strong traditions connected to agriculture and animal care. I grew up with a close relationship to nature, shaped by ways of living that were simple, functional, and deeply rooted.
Currently, I work through in-person and online consultancy, project guidance, and training, with a focus on contexts involving higher environmental sensitivity, neurodivergence, or neurodegenerative conditions.
I believe that the way we live begins with the space we inhabit — and it is in this meeting point between person and environment that my work takes shape.
RITA PIRES METHOD
The Human Habitat Regulation Method helps reorganize spaces in a way that aligns with people's real needs — reducing daily strain, improving functionality, and creating the conditions for a more balanced life.
ARCHITECTURE
Functional organization of space
A well-organized habitat allows daily tasks to flow with ease, safety, and minimal energy expenditure.
BIOCULTURAL EVOLUTION
The human meaning of dwelling
The home is not just a physical structure, but a territory of identity, relationships, and memory.
NEUROSCIENCE
Sensory and environmental regulation
A regulating environment supports stable biological rhythms, mental recovery, and cognitive clarity.

Does your home support your real needs?
If you are highly sensitive to your environment, work from home, are going through a life transition (grief, divorce, parenthood, relocation), live with chronic pain, or share your home with neurodivergent children or family members with neurodegenerative conditions, your space may be influencing your daily life more than you realize.
Through my method, I help make your experience at home more functional, regulating, and aligned with the way you live.
